The Bald Builders – Brad Hanson and Sam Hughes – took time out from the radio to appear on Good Morning Britain this week, to argue that “there’s nothing more exhausting than being on a building site.”
Speaking with Charlotte Hawkins and Robert Rinder, Brad said there was "nothing more tiring than lifting up concrete blocks, lifting two or three tonnes of material in a morning.”
The segment on national breakfast TV was prompted by a recent scientific report that claimed that sitting at a desk can be just as tiring as manual work.
According to a report in Current Biology Journal, mental concentration leads to changes in the brain that wears us out.
Businessman and entrepreneur, Richard Farleigh also appeared on the show saying that mental work was “much tougher” than physical labour.
“Mental work is really, really tough, and oftentimes much tougher, higher levels of depression, more stress, the job involves longer hours and lower pay,” said Farleigh.
