Some things in life are sacred and a stag do is one of those ancient traditions that we hope will continue to live long into the future of soon-to-be grooms up and down this fine country. While the day, night or weekend itself is designed to ensure all those in attendance - especially the groom - will never forget the festivities, one group of lads has ensured the legend of their stag will live long in the memory…and potentially carry over to one of the biggest local events of the year. Jack Wilkins, a 32-year-old groom from Essex who works as a welder, probably didn’t think that after being tied up virtually naked to pole on a busy road on his stag do, that he would become the frontrunner to turn on the Christmas lights in Basildon… but here we are! Not content with just a few pictures of their stag tied up on the pole, his thoughtful friends decided to launch a change.org campaign with the intention on having their mate be the one to turn on the local Christmas lights in Basildon at the end of the year. The 'Socks & Sandals Boy'. Image credit Change.org According to the change.org page, ‘The Stag Party for Jack Wilkins in Basildon soon become the talk of the town when a failed nipple piercing attempt ended up with him being carried across the road and taped to the traffic lights outside the Beehive pub in nothing but suspenders, thong, sandals and socks.’ ‘This act bought tears to shoppers, sounds of horns from passing vehicles and of course prides of joy to successful stag group.’ ‘Shares of photos and videos still swamping social media it would only seem right that “Socks and Sandals Boy” would be the only clear candidate to turn on Basildon Christmas lights this year wearing his famous attire one more time.’ At time of writing the petition has received 366 of the 500 signature target. If you want to get this lucky groom to the post - you can sign the petition here. (H/T Change.org)
