Tradespeople in the UK are raising their prices and being forced to pass on the costs of sky-rocketing parking fees and general motor charges to their customers, with some facing charges over £120 a day to park in areas of London, a new study by the Federation Of Master Builders have found. 80% of the builders surveyed said the issue left them no choice but to add the increased costs onto the customers bill, with environmental charges and congestion adding to the expenditure with many saying they are considering withdrawing from offering their services in the capital altogether. In Islington, North London, diesel vehicles are subjected to a standard £5-an-hour surcharge as well as £6.20 an hour. Factor in the standard £15 congestion charge and the £12.50 emissions charge and you’ve chalked up a cheque of £139.50 a day just for keeping your vehicle near the job site. https://t.co/Q2uryOgeBI Britain's army of 'white van' men say they are being forced to pass on the 'extortionate' cost of council #parking to customers as they face bills of £140 a day Analysis on parking in Chelsea and Kensington found that a 10-hour park can set tradesmen back £88.50 when you include environmental additions. As reported by the Daily Mail, Brian Berry of the FMB said “Builders are already facing spiralling costs for materials.” “Extra charges for carrying out day-to-day work, which unavoidably will include driving their vans in cities, are tough.” (H/T Daily Mail)
