Human remains have been unearthed at a former police HQ. They were found by builders installing drains outside a Grade II-listed mansion which was the North Yorkshire force’s base until 2017, reports The Sun. The bones were buried in 3ft of concrete near the officers’ canteen. The Ministry of Justice has granted permission for a full exhumation. “They will be sent away for dating confirmation.” Archaeologist John Buglass suggested the area around Newby Wiske Hall, near Northallerton, could have been an Iron Age settlement.
PGL, which will open the site as a children’s activity holiday centre, said: “The location and state of preservation suggest a possible prehistoric date for the remains.
