Can you imagine walking onto site on a Monday morning and in comes your apprentice with a grin from ear to ear knowing he’s just won big having a flutter on the weekend? Well that was the reality for a group of tradesmen in Melbourne, Australia, after an apprentice plumber nailed a nine-leg horse racing acca that pocketed the youngster $13,260 (£7,159) off a $5 (£2.50) bet. Jonnie Dimopoulos, 19, said he threw a “hail-mary” when he put bets on 9 different horses, greyhounds and harness races at 7 different locations around Australia. The first leg was a win on a horse called Onesmartfella who won at meet in Terang. Following that he won the remaining legs at Warragul, Lismore, Rockhampton, Gosford and Mandurah greyhound meetings.
