First up, Paul and Thomas look at amendments to the regs, which are scheduled to be updated every three years. "I predict that by December we will have a draft for public comment - DPC of amendment 3 of BS7671. I can see that happening slowly," Paul notes. "One of the proposed changes that's in the ether is the removal of testing of RCDs, which is absolute lunacy and irresponsible," he adds. Paul also shed light on IET 01, which sets out the critical safety requirements for open PEN detection devices (OPDDs) for use in electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment and installations. "It's got nine sections - terms, definitions, clarifications, characteristics, marking, various operational conditions, and verification of the devices," Paul explains. Finally, the general elections which are scheduled to take place later this year are set to bring about a different set of changes.
