Eight staff from Toolstation undertook a physically demanding hike across the Dorset coastline to raise funds for its charity partner Macmillan Cancer Support. The Toolstation team carried out a Mighty Hike, which has raised £5,025 for the UK’s leading cancer support charity. The walk saw eight employees from the retailer tackle the distance of a full marathon, 26 miles, over the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. The route took in Wareham, the stunning Dorset coastline and the beautiful Corfe Castle. The team has raised £5,025 for the charity, against a target of £5,000. £5,000 could help run Macmillan’s Online Community forum for over a week. At this time, around 10,000 people affected by cancer in the UK can read and share experiences and support each other on anything to do with cancer – from treatments, to coping with everyday life, to the death of a loved one. Donations can still be made on Toolstation’s JustGiving page. Toolstation’s senior retail marketing & events manager, Scott Beighton, who took part in this year’s Mighty Hike, says: “This was a great personal challenge for us all and trekking through the Jurassic Coast has meant we’ve been able to raise more money for such an important cause. We want to say a big thank you to everyone who donated and is helping us achieve this target.”
