Over the course of the next eight months, Muir Construction will deliver the 16,300-square-foot industrial accommodation fitted out to cat A, Scottish Construction Now reported. Fusion Asset’s commitment to Community Benefits has been underlined by the inclusion of specific tender requirements that Muir Construction was content to adopt and carry forward into the formal building contract. This has focused on identifying meaningful contributions to employment and training opportunities that the project will present to the local community and further education in the North Lanarkshire area. Early consultations with New College Lanarkshire and Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) have already established a sound route and delivery programme to ensure the engagement of students from various disciplines. Muir has made a particular pledge to create work placements and Base Learning opportunities in alliance with the Advance & Equalities Forum for people with additional support needs or who have barriers to employment. Muir Construction’s business development director, David Fairweather, said: “It is great to secure another excellent project on the M8 corridor. “Our continued success in the area makes any support we can give to the local community sustainable; it is so important to provide this level of continuity, especially for those with additional support needs.”
