AUDIO NEWS: SME house builders warn the PM and Ray Winstone gets work as a labourer

Posted: Monday, July 10th, 2023

SME house builders delivered a letter to the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak last week, demanding he take action to save their businesses.

200 small and medium sized builders had signed the open letter complaining of the “existential threat to the survival of businesses posed by the increasingly anti-development policy environment”.

The group estimated that nearly 80% of firms are considering scaling back their residential construction activity.

Stewart Baseley executive chairman of the Home Builders Federation warned: “SMEs are the lifeblood of all industries, but in house building we are seeing them being driven out by an increasingly anti-development, anti-business policy environment.”
