Wealthy clients in rural areas are leading the heat pump rollout across the UK – that’s according to research from Harding Heating. The survey suggests that three quarters of heat pump installations are in rural locations, and the UK’s richest are 30% more likely to install the low carbon systems. The poll showed that two thirds of those that had installed a heat pump were satisfied with the running cost, even if there wasn’t significant cost savings, over a traditional gas boiler. Despite progress on heat pump installations, Andre Harding, MD of Harding Heating warned that the government’s measures to electrify heating “didn’t go far enough”. --- Remedial work to the UK’s poorest housing could generate as much as £135 billion in societal benefits, claims a report from the Building Research Establishment. Societal benefits included savings to the NHS, lower energy bills and carbon emissions, higher asset values and greater economic opportunities, as a result of better health.
