AUDIO NEWS: Pay for subcontractors increases in August and plumbers top list of most queried trade

Posted: Friday, September 20th, 2024

Self-employed subcontractors have enjoyed another bumper month on site in August, with pay packets rising by 1.2% — that’s according to figures from Hudson Contract.

However, the 1.6% year-on-year increase seen by many subcontractors, is still behind consumer price inflation during the same period.

Those working in the insulation trades saw the strongest growth with earnings rising by over 7% month-on-month.

Brickies also did alright, with their monthly earnings up 4.6%.

The figures “demonstrate the continued demand for the most highly skilled, safe and productive tradespeople in construction”, said Hudson Contract MD, Ian Anfield.
