AUDIO NEWS: One in ten tradespeople look to quit and the Isle of Wight helps tradies with parking

One in ten tradespeople are thinking of quitting after losing customers in the last year – that’s according to a report by Best Heating. The poll of 2000 tradespeople also claimed that nearly 30% of tradespeople were looking at second jobs just to make ends meet. Despite the tough market conditions, just one in five tradespeople were planning to adapt their business to find new customers. --- Increasing numbers of UK tradespeople are looking to move abroad for work and a better quality of life. An analysis of search engine data by Rated People, reveals that there were over a million searches for trade jobs in different countries in the last 12 months. Australia was the most popular destination in 10 out of 15 different trades. However, searches for construction jobs in Saudi Arabia were the fastest growing category, racking up 293% growth in the last year. --- And finally, while other local authorities are making life difficult for tradespeople, the Isle of Wight has introduced a business waiver to solve parking headaches for tradies. The 12-month pilot scheme is designed to allow plumbers, electricians and other trades to park in council pay and display areas, and residential parking bays while visiting customers. Councillor Phil Jordan explained that the scheme was designed to give tradespeople flexibility to park as close as possible to their customers' premises. ---
