AUDIO NEWS: Nearly 500 trade vans take part in protest, and homeowners call plumbers to deal with ghosts

Nearly 500 trade vans joined a ‘go-slow’ protest in central London yesterday. 

The demonstration organised by Trades United, sort to raise awareness to the tool theft issue among the public and those in parliament.

And to restrict the sale of second-hand tools in car boot sales and markets.

Trades United also called for tougher sentences for those convicted of stealing tools.

Speaking to Fix Radio during the protest, Shoaib Awan of Trades United said that tradespeople had travelled from across the country to attend.

Awan called on the government to make a statement about its plans to deal with tool theft.

Last week’s speech by chancellor, Rachel Reeves outlining the government’s plan to kick start infrastructure and home building projects has been broadly welcomed by the industry.

As well as giving the greenlight for the third runway at Heathrow, Reeves’ speech also focused on fixing the planning system.

Rico Wojtulewicz, head of policy and market insight with the NFB said: “The chancellor is correct to return her focus to fixing the broken planning system.”

Millions of homeowners in the UK are calling tradespeople to help rid their homes of ghosts.

40% of homeowners in a recent survey claimed their houses were haunted. 

Of those a quarter admitted calling plumbers, electricians and other tradespeople to solve issues they believe were related to ghosts.
