The National Access and Scaffolding Confederation took its campaign for greater skills development to the Houses of Parliament earlier this month.

The trade association brought together the Secretary of State for Education and Skills, Gillian Keegan, MPs, Lords, and industry leaders, to lobby for a greater commitment from schools to teach construction skills.

Keegan said: “I know that the construction industry has serious skills challenges…. We need to make sure that it is showcased in schools so that young people can see what is available to them.”

The tournament will take place on 25th May at Stamford Bridge in London.

Teams will be organised by trade, and people who register to play must commit to raising £50 for Mind.

Ironmongery Direct’s annual mental health report released last year, estimated that four out of five tradespeople have experienced symptoms of anxiety or depression.
