AUDIO NEWS: FMB backs reform of construction training and four arrested for building site burglary

Posted: Tuesday, February 4th, 2025

The Federation of Master Builders has thrown its support behind a recent report to transform the construction training sector.

Mark Farmer’s report in the Industry Training Boards has called for a fundamental reset.

But it stopped short of recommending the abolishment of either the Construction Industry Training Board or the industry levy.

Brian Berry, chief executive of the FMB said that things need to change if the construction industry is to develop a modern workforce.

Berry said: “If the government is to deliver its ambitious infrastructure and housing targets, then it makes sense to implement the Mark Farmer report.”

A government steering group is assessing Farmer’s other recommendations.
