The European Union has banned politicians, officials and translators from using the word tradesman in favour of more inclusive language. The latest edition of the European Commission’s English style guide also suggested dropping phases like man-made, man on the street, man hours and even mankind. Lord Young, founder of Free Speech Union, told The Telegraph: “This sort of woke nonsense now feels completely outdated. The European Commission clearly hasn’t got the memo.” --- January was another record month for small scale renewables installations across the UK. According to MCS, there was a 26% year on year increase in renewable system installs. Battery storage had its strongest month ever with over 2,600 projects completed. Heat pump installs were also 21% up on the same time last year, as more homes made the switch to low carbon heating. Ian Rippin, CEO of MCS said that “January 2025 was the strongest start to the year in scheme history.” --- Housebuilder Redrow helped has helped out one of its brickayers with £1,500 in sponsorship so he can pursue his motocross passion. Rhys, who started with Redrow three years ago as an apprentice bricklayer, balances life on the trowel with racing on the weekends.
