The East Midlands has been named the best region for UK tradespeople, due to the short distance of their commute. Research by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles found that tradies in the East Midlands drove nearly 68 miles a day, well below the national average of 88 miles. The shorter travel times saved tradespeople in the East Midlands up to 82 hours a year. London van drivers spent the most time driving, covering over 100 miles a day! --- Google is investing $10 million to fund training for tens of thousands of electricians. The rapid expansion of data centres across the US is driving a rapid expansion of the electrical infrastructure and there is huge demand for people to build and manage it. The tech giant said the lack of access to power supplies had become its biggest issue. The demand for electricians is projected to grow by 6% annually over the next 7 years. --- A carpenter from Caerphilly has been stripped of his livelihood after three men broke into this van and stole £3,500 worth of tools. Joel Lamorte’s van was broken into as it sat on his driveway. The 27-year-old chippie was at least able to borrow tools to get back to work.
