UK adults are unwilling to invest in low carbon heating systems, claims research from the Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA). The survey found that just 4% of respondents were willing to invest over £5,000 for a low carbon system, such as a heat pump. The average cost of fitting a heat pump under the government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme is currently £13,000. Even if a homeowner claims the full £7,500 BUS subsidy, they still have to find another £5,500 to fund the project. Mike Foster, CEO of EUA said the research indicates that the “vast majority of households are unwilling to spend the sums needed to fit [heat pumps].” --- The British Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom & Bathroom Installation (BiKBBI) has terminated the registration of one of its members for fraud. The individual, referred to only as ‘JS from West Yorkshire’ was discovered using a fraudulently amended document as part of its professional credentials. The trade body said the issue came to light during a detailed review procedure. --- A team of ten people from James Hardie will take on the Three Peaks Challenge later this year, in support of the Cancer Support Centre in Sutton Coldfield. The team aims to raise around £6,000 to help make an impact on the services the centre can provide for those affected by cancer. --- To listen to the construction news please click below
