Comedian and author Ian Stone joined Clive on the Clive Holland Show on Monday 12th April, as Ian helped out with the opening of Fix Radio’s very own pub – The Finger Inn! It’s naturally been a really tough year for everyone in the entertainment industry and the pubs re opening may have offered a light at the end of the tunnel for some. But Ian Stone said pubs have always been a big part of any comics career… “Rooms above pubs are the first places you get booked. That's where they have us on first, basically. Of course, we spend quite a lot of time in them [pubs] when we're not working as well. So they play a big part in our lives, to be honest” Clive went on to ask Ian how much he was looking forward to getting back to gigging as well though: “It’s more my family to be honest, they’re more desperate than me that I get out and do some stand up elsewhere. They’ve had enough of the early evening shows when I'm up in the lounge going ‘what's your name, where are you from?’ And my wife is going ‘we've been together for 34 years, sit down or go and do something.’ I'm looking forward to it of course, I cannot wait. “ “I've got some gigs booked in late May or early June. I'm not totally sure! I'm living a bit day to day at the moment, but I've got some gigs booked in and I'm doing stuff on zoom. That's always a laugh, just shouting into a computer! I think June and I'll go back to doing stand up” Ian also had a typically hilarious response when Clive asked him what he’s been doing to keep himself busy over the last twelve months “Bin day is a big day for me on a Wednesday, when people turn up. We get the kids up early and we're waiting outside for them [the bin men]. That's quite fun. Listening to foxes having sex on the lawn in the front garden. There's not a lot going on to be honest. I'm never walking again. I've had enough. I don't know what I've been doing, watching Netflix like everyone else or watching football most days. I'm bored out my mind.” You can catch more exclusive interviews as well and industry chat and great tunes on the Clive Holland Show, Monday through Thursday between 2 – 4pm You can also catch up on the weeks action on the Clive Holland Show with the podcast below…
