A man who became frustrated at his card continually being declined while trying to purchase some beer in a petrol station has attempted to rob the place…with a screwdriver as a weapon. The incident occurred in Citra County, Florida, with staff members at the petrol station handling the situation in heroic fashion - working together to overpower the man and wrestle the screwdriver out of his hand before any cash or goods could be taken before waiting for police to arrive. It's believed the man had become agitated after trying to purchase alcohol and repeatedly having his card declined. He told the staff member behind the counter that he was going to this vehicle to get some cash before returning armed with a screwdriver and began threatening her. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says a Citra man was arrested for attempted robbery after using a screwdriver to threaten employees at a gas station. https://t.co/3ELPRZpZTi Speaking to Fox35, Marion Country Sheriff Paul Bloom said 49-year-old Vincent Lamura “Walked up to the clerk, threatened the clerk, said ‘Give me all the money’ with the screwdriver in this hand’ before two of the other members of staff fought back and put the man in a chokehold.” Mr Bloom credited the bravery of the staff members to take the law into their own hands, saying "If you’re wrestling with a bad guy who just tried to rob you with a screwdriver. One minute is a long time to do that. Very brave of these clerks.” While it’s not clear what caused Mr Lamura to snap like that, it’s fair to say his head might not have been screwed on right… (H/T Fox35)
