A generous Scottish Sun reader has repaired a disabled OAP’s patio for nothing — after cowboy builders left it unusable. We told last month how David Houston, 77, of Dalry, Ayrshire, forked out £1,650 to rogue workers who vanished without finishing the job. The pensioner, who struggles to walk after three hip operations, was left having to traipse down the road and through his neighbour’s yard to access his own garden. But after reading our story, a retired builder from nearby Ardrossan offered to help. The big-hearted “angel” — who wanted to remain anonymous — said: “I’ve been a builder for 30 years and it’s shocking what some workers do. “David and his wife are a lovely couple and didn’t deserve what happened to them. “I don’t want any money or praise. It was something I felt like doing and I’d happily do it again.” David said: “The man who came to our help was an angel. We offered to pay but he would not accept anything more than a cup of tea.” He added: “We feel blessed for all the acts of kindness we received after speaking to The Scottish Sun. “I went to buy some bricks, sand and cement at Reddance Building Supplies in Dalry, and the owner offered to sell us the material for trade prices, saving us hundreds of pounds.”
