According to a recent study by Selco builders warehouse, roofers burn more calories than professional boxers. A handful of tradespeople gave some credence to the study on the Clive Holland show sharing how they keep fit. David Finnagan from Elmwood Enterprises said going to the gym was the best thing he’s done. “You’re competing with yourself… and it’s really good for the body but most of all for the mind.” On days when motivation is low, David says, “the motivation comes from progression and feeling fit.” Beyond physical workout, diet also helps tradespeople keep fit. TV builder and MMA fanatic, Pete Finn who joined the show described an unhealthy diet as putting petrol in a diesel engine. “It’s not gonna work. You need to fuel your body… We have to eat on the go but you can go for healthy options,” he said. He also recommended cardio workout, jujitsu or football which gives you energy for the job. Messaging in, a listener said saving the booze for the weekend was helpful while another said, exercise away from work helps you relax and disconnect from work. Host of The Plumbing & Heating show on Fix Radio, Andy Cam also messaged in with advice to do some running as they help keep knees and back subtle. Two crucial parts for the trade. If you don’t fancy the gym, sports or the like, a Thai massage may be it. Scott from Bros Carpentry joined the show to share his experience. Listen to the full show here:
