Woodworkers Adam Hobbs and his son William have a combined 61 years of experience between them, The Argus reported.
Adam has worked in joinery and refurbishing properties for more than 45 years and specialises in period properties including Georgian and Victorian homes.
The pair received a master and journeyman award in a ceremony at Mansion House in London on March 11.
Adam said: “Receiving this award is an incredible honour and to be recognised here in London is the icing on the cake. As a young man coming to work in London was a career highlight, it is a city that I loved working in.
"The skills I learned have come from a long line of master craftsmen and I am honoured to have left my mark on some of London’s finest properties.
“I am immensely proud that my son William followed a similar path workwise. In a world where craft skills such as joinery are becoming a rarity, it is good to know that young hands now create such beauty with wood.
“The world requires housebuilding and reconstruction of existing homes and buildings to house the population. Every country seems challenged by this now.”
William, who lives in Uckfield, started a joinery and cabinet-making business there called Joinery Boys Ltd six years ago. He has 16 years’ experience.
