BECTU Vision, a skills hub based in Glasgow, in partnership with BBC Studio’s River City is recruiting for a qualified electrician, Daily Record reported. The selected spark will work as an Electrician Conversion Trainee in the lighting department on the next series of River City. No previous film experience is required, and the successful applicant will work at Dumbarton Studio within an experienced lighting department learning about the equipment and techniques used on productions and on-set practice and spending time on a variety of other productions filming in Scotland and in Scotland’s largest lighting hire house, Panalux. On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 6pm they will host an open evening at BBC Studioworks the purpose-built studio, set in the heart of Glasgow’s West End in the iconic Kelvin Hall. This event is open to anyone interested in working in the lighting department of Film and TV productions, there will be a chance to find out more about this traineeship and other opportunities coming up for electricians in 2024, an opportunity to hear from previous trainees and industry professionals and have a tour of the studio itself.
