Thomas Nagy and regular guest Paul Meenan welcome back husband-wife outfit Louise Tarling and John Vauxhall who discuss how apprentice Lauren has helped to grow their business. "Originally, we hadn't planned to get an apprentice. We were so busy and Lauren, whom we knew through her father, needed work experience. We realised quite quickly that she was good, so we suggested that she get an electrical engineering degree at college," Louise says. Smart home installation work has offered Lauren a broad range of experience so far. "Smart home installations are interesting. I want to keep my horizons as broad as possible, and I'd worked with John and Louise before and got on with them really well. I'm currently enjoying it," said Lauren. Louise also speaks about the challenges and hurdles of bringing an apprentice into the business. "The biggest one is providing enough work for Lauren to keep her enthusiasm and engagement up. We don't want to give her the same things to do, obviously, she has to hone her skills, but we don't want her getting bored," Louise notes. Listen to the full episode here.
