Joel Bardall and Todd Von Joel invite prostate cancer survivor and campaigner Errol McKellar (MBE) to learn about the illness, and how a simple blood test can save lives. Most men are aware that getting their prostate checked when they're over 40 is a sensible precaution. However, there are legions of men who 'haven't got round to it' yet, many of whom are nervous about the idea of getting a 'finger up the bum'. But as Errol learnt, being tested is a simple pin-prick blood test. "I found out that prostate cancer screening doesn't require an appointment but just a blood test requiring less than 10 minutes." After recovering from cancer, the mechanic has been raising awareness of the illness. He started out offering a 20% discount on MOTs if customers agreed to got a prostate cancer test. This simple idea has saved 48 lives. "52,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year of which over 12,000 die. That is one man every 45 minutes." Listen to the podcast here.
