Plumbing and heating engineers Jamie Cawthraw from Bingley, Zak Nova from Cardiff, Luke Thompson from Castleford, Mohammed Rahman from London, and Paul Clark from the Wirral have made it to the semi-finals as Screwfix searches for its 2024 top tradesperson, HVP Mag reported. Jamie, 25, owns JC Plumbing & Property and has almost a decade of experience in the trade. In the initial application, Jamie showcased his hard work and passion, which secured him a place in the semi-finals. Zak, 34, who owns Nova HPS Ltd, has worked in the trade for over 15 years. His dedication to his local community has seen him help young people transform their lives. This includes building a team of plumbers and qualified gas engineers who have retrained from other jobs and supporting them in taking their careers in a new direction. Luke, 36, who works for Morgan Sindall Property Services, has more than 18 years of experience in the trade. In the last 18 months, he has been involved in three charity projects, where he has volunteered his time and services alongside other tradespeople to help those in need. Mohammed, 38, who owns Rahman Build Ltd, has more than 17 years’ experience working as a plumber. He is a champion for his trade and, along with string service values, works to encourage others to consider an apprenticeship to embark on a rewarding career within the trade. Paul, 54, who owns Concept Plumbing & Heating, has more than thirty years of experience in the trade and is a third-generation plumbing and heating engineer. He has a solid social media presence, which he uses to inspire those considering joining the trade. He is known for his community work in helping those with disabilities feel comfortable and well-heated in their homes. Each will now compete against 26 other top tradespeople from across the UK and the Republic of Ireland to be shortlisted as a finalist. If successful, they will become one of just 10 finalists to take part in the in-person final, which will be held at Screwfix LIVE on 27 September 2024.
