Demand for garden work set to triple in March

Posted: Tuesday, March 5th, 2024

Demand for gardeners could soon outstrip supply, as enquiries for landscape gardener job bookings soar in March.

This means that many Brits could face disappointment if they don’t act fast to book their preferred tradesperson within the next few weeks.

This is according to brand new data from MyBuilder.com, the reliable way to hire tradespeople. Their numbers suggest that demand for landscape gardeners and garden maintenance professionals’ triples in March.

This is a pattern that they see replicated each year, with a three-year trend showing a massive 209 per cent increase in demand requests compared to the monthly average.

Demand for landscaping continues to be high in April at 191 per cent above average, with May just behind at 157 per cent - but leaving it this long to book will see many Brits missing out.

Meanwhile, more regular garden maintenance requests see spikes in May, with a 214 per cent increase on a year-on-year average - but last year saw a record high of 279 per cent.

March is the start of Spring, and as such it’s the perfect time to start bringing your garden back to life after winter and get it ready to enjoy the milder weather around the corner. But thousands of Brits may face disappointment if they delay securing a gardener before the spring season arrives.

James Lewis, expert gardener from MyBuilder.com, said that this season’s remarkably mild temperatures have seen gardens starting to blossom earlier than ever.

“Though the weather has been remarkably wet, it’s also been extremely mild so many gardens are starting to see blooms, and the grass is beginning to grow.

“To get your garden Spring-ready, I would recommend getting ahead of the curve and booking your jobs as soon as possible. Early Spring is a super-busy time for most gardeners, so book early if you don’t want to miss out.”
