Mark Millar host of Building Ideas, was recently joined by Jonathan Randall (https://www.jrkitchens.co.uk/) to discuss trends, options and functionality with regards to creating the perfect kitchen for your building project. Randall said: “My background is that l left school when I was 16 and am in my 50s now. I was always drawn to wood and work related to carpentry even though my upbringing was more on the farming side. I really honed my skills in carpentry and kitchens and this was done in the early years throughs kitchen installations and working with interior designers to come up with the best kitchens basically. “After that, I worked on building sites when I was in college but it was during this period that I honed my skills in carpentry because that’s what I always wanted to do. So, I started making kitchens myself and that was 14 years ago.” “So, we have go a team of about 15 staff and everything is in-house and we do everything from design to manufacturing and we have a workshop with joiners on the benches and our own paint shop. We are based down on the South coast in a lovely area. “The biggest mistake that customers and carpenters make when designing or putting the vision of their kitchen to be realised is space. This is the most common mistake that one can make when designing a kitchen concept into reality. Even if the room is really big without actually measuring and marking it out that could be a problem.” For the full show, listen below.
