Listeners to Fix Radio narrowly voted to cancel Christmas music across the station. From next week, the Builders Station will celebrate the festive season with its usual mix of upbeat tunes and classic bangers. The station will NOT play any of the usual festive selection including Slade, Wizard, the Pogues, Michael Bublé, Mariah Carey and the rest. Over the last two weeks, the Builders Station has been asking its audience to decide its Christmas playlist. Tradespeople who texted FIX-MAS to the station campaigned for a full-on barrage of non-stop Christmas music up until the 25th. Listeners who texted FIX-OFF to 81400 wanted to get rid of the repetitive Christmas music until the big day. After two weeks of intense campaigning across the station, involving nearly all Fix Radio’s presenters the result was decided by just a solitary vote. The FIX-MAS/FIX-OFF debate started as an argument between Brad Hanson and Sam Hughes, the hosts of the Bald Builders Breakfast, about whether there was too much Christmas music on the station. Fix Radio will now be free of festive tunes from Monday 18th, until Christmas Day. On Boxing Day all Xmas will be locked away for another year. Brad described the result as “dagger to the heart”. Sam on the other hand, couldn’t stop chuckling with glee. Watch Sam celebrate here.
