Keith Parry from Gaer had been waiting patiently while volunteer tradespeople from the construction charity Band of Builders worked on building a ground-floor extension with a bedroom and bathroom, South Wales Argus reported. A Band of Builders charity spokesperson said: "Nearly 50 volunteer tradespeople from Band of Builders were involved in the project, installing a lift that goes out to the front, and tradespeople from as far as Cornwall came to help." The three-week project at Mr Parry's house has transformed the house physically and fostered camaraderie among the volunteers. As the spokesperson shared, the tradespeople, who often work independently, found joy in 'helping one of their own', a testament to the Band of Builders' strong community spirit. Keith's wife, Linda Parry, 70, said she is "just over the moon" about the works. "We've had people turn up here. One guy came from Weston-super-Mare and wanted to give a hand today. The kindness has been unbelievable." Mrs Parry also complimented the kindness of the volunteers and the companies involved. She said: "Between the guys doing it and companies who have donated, I can't believe they're that kind. It's thousands of pounds, and it takes my breath away." Works on the project began on Saturday, May 4, and finished with a handover on Sunday, May 26. The charity had appealed for volunteers to join the project in late February.
