AUDIO NEWS: Young van drivers face massive hike in insurance costs and plasterer gets kick out of Dubai

Posted: Thursday, June 26th, 2025

Young van drivers are facing soaring insurance premiums due in part to the impact of tool theft — that’s according to research from Quotezone.co.uk.

The insurance platform claims that van drivers aged between 17-and-24-years old are paying up 278% more to insure their vehicles and tools, compared with other age groups.

Average policy prices for those between 17-and-24 are now over £2,000 – nearly four times the price paid by drivers aged between 45-and-65-years old.

There were over 17,000 reported incidents of tool theft last year, of which roughly half involved equipment being stolen from vans.
