AUDIO NEWS: Roofers come to the aid of a grandmother, and 25% of tradespeople ignore eye protection

Posted: Sunday, February 25th, 2024

A group of Bradford roofers will help a grandmother with a leaking roof this week.

Audrey Johnson had spent over £3,000 fixing leaking roof titles during COVID, however, less than three years later, water has started to seep in once again.

With a pregnant granddaughter due to move in shortly, Nathan Cracknell and Chris Lightbody from NC Roofing have offered to fix the damaged roof for free.

Volunteers from Rinus Roofing Supplies and Shipley Building Plastics will also help with the repair work.

Dulux Decorator Centres has partnered with Gophr to accelerate its sub-two-hour delivery service.

The deal is one of several that the chain of decorating stores is making as it expands sub-two-hour deliveries to six days a week, covering over 70% of its customer base.

Dulux Decorator Centre aims to introduce a 90-minute service in city centres.

Guy Butterworth, managing director with Dulux Decorator Centres said: “Tradespeople are looking for a wide range of delivery options that work around their schedule. Delivery to home or project locations is now just as important as visits to stores.”

A quarter of tradespeople don’t bother with eye protection when working on-site – that’s according to a survey from SpecSavers.

The survey revealed that painters, brickies and electricians were most likely to ignore eye protection while on the job.

The relaxed attitude to eye projection was even more surprising considering 35% of survey respondents admitted they knew somebody who had injured their eyes at work.
