AUDIO NEWS: Roofers are least trustworthy trade say Checkatrade and on site earnings up nearly 2% in October

Posted: Sunday, November 17th, 2024

Roofers have been branded the least trustworthy trade by Checkatrade.

The review platform said that roofers had the worst-rated scores across its community and were more likely to be declined for membership.

Speaking to This is Money, a Checkatrade spokesperson said roofing was a high risk category “because it’s an area of our homes we can’t easily see, causing us to place high trust in the individual.”

According to Checkatrade, landscapers, hard landscapers and plumbers also don’t fare well in the trustworthy rankings on the platform either.

Tradespeople are being encouraged to repair tools, rather than replace them

Research from Protrade, indicates that tradespeople on average spend £2,500 on new tools every three years.

But Protrade believes new tools costs could be reduced through annual maintenance.

Craig Sanders, joint managing director, said tools like drywaller sanders, hammer breakers and plunge saws offer much better value when repaired, rather than replaced.
