AUDIO NEWS: New build homes will be required to have solar panels, and builder gets role on Mobland

Posted: Monday, June 9th, 2025

New build homes in England will now be required to have solar panels.

When outlining the government plans last week energy secretary, Ed Miliband said the changes were “just common sense”.

He estimates solar panels will save a typical household £500 a year on energy bills.

The Home Builders Federation welcomed the announcement but warned against introducing “burdensome paperwork”.

The rules will be part of the Future Homes Standard, due in Autumn and will include a wider plan for improving the energy efficiency of UK homes.

A painter and decorator whose client refused to pay has extracted revenge on social media.

The tradesman from Finishing Touch Sprayers had been hired to paint a garden fence a dark shade of grey.

But when the customer said they wouldn’t pay, the decorator returned to the property and filmed himself on TikTok applying paint stripper to the fence.

He explained he was taking his paint back because the “customer wouldn’t pay”.

The tradesman claimed the client has since asked him to paint it again, saying they’ll pay double, up front.
