An 88-year-old former plumber who contracted a form of testicular mesothelioma after working with asbestos has received “substantial compensation”.

The plumber, who remains anonymous is now urging fellow tradesmen that may have worked with asbestos fibres to get themselves checked out.

He contracted the disease while working as a plumber with Durrant Brothers in the 1950s and ‘60s.

Over 4,200 heat pumps were installed in February – that’s according to market data from MCS.

February was the third highest monthly total ever and continues a strong start to the year for heat pump projects.

The average number of heat pump installs since the start of 2024 sits at 4,110 a month, a 26% increase on last year’s monthly average.

England now has 1.4 million heat pump installs under the MCS scheme.

February was also the biggest month ever for battery installation projects.

And finally, Police Scotland is hunting for a blundering dumper truck thief.

After gaining access to the construction yard in Moray, the would-be bandit first drove the dumper straight into a fence before trying and failing to drive it up a bank to escape.

After abandoning the truck, the robber then tried and failed to start an excavator before giving up.
