Nearly one in five tradespeople feel alone and isolated at work – that’s according to a survey by Mira Showers. In the poll of 500 sole traders, 22% also admitted feeling over-whelmed by work. The survey found that long hours and a lack of social interaction while on the job were the two biggest contributors to the sense of isolation. 40% of respondents also said they found it hard to share work related concerns. --- Nearly half of homeowners believe that builders have to be legally licensed. The research by the HomeOwners Alliance and the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), was released as the trade body stepped up its campaign to introduce a licensing model for builders. The FMB argues that a builder’s license will guarantee basic standards of work, stamp out rogue traders and offer greater consumer protection. Brian Berry, chief executive of the FMB said: “Building work is complex… and it needs to be underpinned by standards and legal accountability.” --- A 27-year old electrician Callum Biscoe is helping local youngsters to get into boxing. Last weekend he sponsored an event organised by sport development charity, Bletchley Boxing Community Hub.
