Andy Cam and Todd Glister are joined by Pointy Plumber (aka Robert Clarke) and Mark Hall to deliberate on seasonal changes and how businesses adapt according to the season. Robert's busiest period as a heating engineer is during winter. Balancing work during the winter season can be challenging, he adds. "It's not about trying to make the most money, it's doing my best to keep customers happy." He notes that demand is relative to customer satisfaction. "The better job you do the better your reputation is. Customer relations is quite important. People think you need to know plumbing to own a successful business, but actually, it depends quite a lot on sales and customer relations." While winter is also the busiest period for Mark's business, he does take two weeks off for Christmas. "I also like to have a nice summer holiday with my family." Mark is a gas specialist which means October, November and December are crucial months for his business. "During these months, I work extra hours to accommodate all the calls we get." Andy and Todd also chat about their busiest seasons, work during spring, and four-day weeks during less busy months. Listen to the podcast here.
