Over 20% of sole traders don't take holiday, scaffolders warned about hot weather and the Installer Show gets underway in Birmingham
Over 20% of sole traders say they don’t take holidays — that’s according to a survey from Tide.
The research found that, on average, owners of small and micro businesses take 15 days holiday a year.
However, an overwhelming 56% admitted taking 10 days or fewer each year; well below the 28-day statutory minimum holiday entitlement.
Sole traders in particular said they felt unable to switch off from work without a team to hand anything over to.

Scaffolding firms are being warned to review hot weather controls as an amber heat alert remains in place for much of the country.
Heavy physical work, often in direct sunlight with limited shade, will increase the risk of dehydration, fatigue and reduced concentration.
HSE guidance suggests moving work hours to cooler parts of the day, providing shade, and ensuring workers have free access to cool drinking water.

Installer Show kicks off today at the NEC Birmingham.
What started out as an exhibition for plumbers and heating engineers has evolved into a multi-disciplinary jamboree that looks to appeal to every trade.
In addition to covering the electrical sector and general building, it is now co-located with the Painting & Decorating Show and the Professional Woodworking Expo.
