Half of scaffolding contractors see a 20% increase in fuel costs, plumbers and electricians remain the most in-demand trades, and electricians team up to help a pensioner
Nearly half of scaffolding contractors have seen a 20% jump in their fuel costs since the start of the year — that’s according to the NASC.
Despite the scale of the increases, 57% of firms said they were unable to recover the additional costs from their clients.
Instead, many businesses are trying to save money by reducing site visits, improving delivery route planning, and reviewing pricing.
Nearly eight out of ten firms also voiced concerns about the effect of further fuel price volatility.
Clive Dickin, group CEO of NASC, warned that rising costs were creating real challenges for many businesses.

However, window fitters have seen the biggest change in their hourly rate, rising by nearly 20% since 2023.

After hearing about Ray Hemingway’s situation, Dan Holliday of DMH Electrical called his industry contacts and found volunteers and materials to repair the system free of charge.
