Nine out of ten homeowners still refuse to call in a builder even after their DIY experiments go wrong — that’s according to research by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB).
In a survey of over 2,000 people, three quarters said they preferred to do the work themselves if they thought it would be expensive to hire a professional.
The figures showed a willingness among consumers to take significant risks rather than hire a builder, even when the work required specialist skills.
