Plumbing and heating engineers RJ Fenton and Matt O'Gorman talk about switching careers and learning the trade in week's episode of The Heating & Plumbing Show. RJ Fenton who retrained to enter the trade, shares her experience. "A job centre I reached out to, offered me funding to study a trade. I always had an interest in plumbing, [so] I figured I'd pick this trade," she explains. She completed a level two diploma in plumbing within six weeks and set-up a plumbing maintenance business. Fenton is also keen to learn carpentry and joinery to complement her skills. Former soldier Matt O'Gorman joined the trade five years back. "One of my friends had done a gas course and it sparked an interest in me, the rest is history." He adds that he's still learning and five years down the line, he still feels like it's day one on the job. Listen to the full podcast here.
