Thomas Nagy and show regular Paul Meenan are joined by Danny Webb to discuss why developing a specialisation within the trade will help your firm standout from the competition and boost your earning potential. Webb better known as Sparky Milan on social media has specialised in domestic, electrical vehicle charging points. "I spend a lot of time figuring out what I want to do before jumping into it." "I mainly deal in domestic. I shadowed a good friend, who taught me much of what I know so far. Working domestically, I've found out that customers are quite difficult to deal with," he adds. Talking about specialisations, he says that he enjoys EV installations and another speciality he's looking into is solar. Further, in the show, Thomas and Paul chat about the important routes to consider when specialising in the trade. Paul says: "There are the informal and formal routes. The formal one is getting the qualifications, while the informal way is putting yourself out there. Go work with the people who are doing it and learn from them, contribute to them and they will contribute back." He adds: "Don't stop at EV, I haven't. I did solar PV. I'm glad I did EV and I'll get additional training in it next year to see what the changes are." Thomas says he's a firm believer in focusing on one area of the job and specialising in it, before moving to the next area. "If you want to earn more money and really try to achieve something, you have to learn more. The fastest way to do it is to put yourself in an environment where you are literally the dumbest idiot in the room and just learn," he emphasises. Paul concludes by saying: "Always invest in yourself." You can listen to the whole show here.
