Robin Clevett sits down with Festool influencer and accomplished carpenter John Argyle to chat about his career, his passion for older properties, apprentices, and getting his tools nicked. John was influenced by the trade from as early as he can remember - visiting his grandparents for lunch every Sunday. "My grandad was a chippie, he used to work at Cadbury’s, and we were always tinkering about in his shed." When he was young, he was "addicted" to making treehouses, which led him to become a carpenter. John's firm, Enfield Refurbishments works on older properties as he finds it "rewarding to work on a beam in a house that' three-four centuries old". Some of the standout projects he has worked on include oak porches, oak truss buildings, and oak panelling. He also spoke about apprentices. "I'm on my 15th apprentice in my 30-year career. Back in the day things were different. People's passions were different, they were encouraged to be bought into the industry." Listen to the podcast here.
