The renewable heat sector is doing "fantastic", according to Dan Tempest from S.T. Plumbing & Heating Gas Specialists Limited, in a conversation with Andy Cam and Dave Smith on the Heating & Plumbing Show. However, he does point out that the lack of skills in implementation is quite apparent. "We're repeating the same mistakes that were made with gas boilers. It's a big problem. "There are people installing things that they don't fully understand. Of the 1.5 million boilers fitted every year, 10% are not installed efficiently. And there are only 10% of engineers who actually care about their job," he claims. Heating engineers are in a rush to fit as many boilers as possible in a day. "I would stake my reputation," he states. "Nobody can fit a boiler properly and set it up in a day. No matter which way you go, that timescale cannot be changed." Listen to the full podcast here.
