Chris Frediani and Bradleigh (Bradders) Hancock are joined by three plasterers from around the UK to hear how business demand is in their local area. Northern Ireland-based George Barr notes that business during the Christmas period was slow due to the holidays and weather conditions but adds that "generally it's pretty good". Barr also reveals that the day rate for plasterers in his area of Ballymena is around £170-200. He expects the rest of the year to be busy for plasterers in Northern Ireland. Scotland's John Maison shares that demand in his area has been stable and the past month has been busy for him and the team. "I'm currently booked up until the end of March." He also claims that in the last year, the market in Edinburgh has been very competitive. "Five to six plasterers are quoting for one job." Day rates in and around the city are £250, he notes. Chesterfield's Gary Blackburn, who supports new entrants on sites across the country with British Gypsum, says that demand is hit-and-miss. "Most seem to be doing comfortably, there are few that are struggling." Listen to the podcast here.
