The founder of GH Décor, a decorating company in Antrim, has been honoured with the prestigious Dulux Connect Project Award for his painting and decorating job at the Slieve Donard Hotel, News Letter reported. Gerald Hughes was commissioned to paint 180 bedrooms, a foyer, a ballroom, an oak room, a chandelier room, a bridal lounge, a restaurant and two bar areas. DH Décor completed the project in five months working around guests as the hotel remained open. Gerald established his business 30 years ago, after taking an opportunity presented by McGreevy Construction to undertake solo painting work. Since then, GH Décor has experienced significant growth, with the undertaking of large-scale commercial work including hotels. With this latest accolade, Gerard is poised to undertake further prestigious projects, with his hat in the ring for the refurbishment of the Savoy Hotel in London.
