The gloom over the UK construction sector showed signs of easing in May – that’s according to a poll of industry purchasing managers. The Construction Purchasing Managers Index (PIM) showed that construction output and new orders both continued to fall, but at the slowest rate since January. The continued decline in new orders was attributed to delayed decision making among clients and cutbacks in capital spending budgets. --- The skills crisis among the UK’s kitchen and bathroom installers continues to worsen, claims an industry survey. The annual poll by The British Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom and Bathroom Installers (BIKBBI), found that just 3% of installers had entered the industry in the last five years and nearly 90% had been in the industry for a decade or more. The survey also estimated that nearly two thirds of the industry were aged between 45 and 64 years old. --- An electrician in Florida jumped into the Indian River to rescue two men and a dog from a small plane crash. Aaron the spark, was working on a nearby home, when the aircraft made an emergency landing in the river.
