Joel Bardall and TVJ chat with The Last Telephone Box Painter in London

Wet Paint, a short documentary about the last telephone box painter in London, Robert Pammen, has been winning fans among tradespeople since its release a month ago. On The Painting & Decorating Show, Robert and filmmaker Matt Livingstone join Joel Bardall and Todd Von Joel to discuss the making of the documentary, Robert's passion for telephone boxes and his career on the brushes. Matt bumped into Robert while out for a run and became intrigued by his restoration work. "As I began chatting to him, I could see how passionate Rob was about his work. I could see that straightaway and I'm very drawn to that," he adds. Listen to the podcast here.
Robert, who has decades of experience, got into painting telephone boxes after noticing the one near his house was looking rundown. He has since volunteered to restore other phone boxes across the capital.
Over the years, Rob has worked across both domestic and industrial sectors as a painter. He recently retired, but still works a couple of days a week.
