Fix Radio sat down with the iconic actor.
Tamer Hassan, best known for his roles in British crime thrillers like The Football Factory and Layer Cake, sat down with Fix Radio’s Brad and Sam on The Bald Builders Breakfast Show.
During the talk, Hassan reflected on his career and his friendship with Danny Dyer, who he claims is looking a little like Ned Flanders these days. However, the most shocking admission was that he doesn’t want a sequel to one of his most famous flicks.
Hassan Says No To Football Factory 2
Tamer Hassan mentioned that his fans often ask about a sequel to the classic 2004 drama. But he isn’t as keen to return as many might hope. He said, “People keep saying ‘make a number 2,’ but I think leave it. You run the risk; if it’s crap, you lose the beauty of the first one.’
While Hassan did concede that he had written a few scripts and that other cast members were up for the challenge, it may be difficult in the modern day to actually make it.
British Films Aren’t The Same Anymore
Elsewhere in the discussion, Tamar Hassan was also asked about his filmography and his belief that perhaps British movies aren’t quite as good as they used to be. Hassan said that “they don’t make them like that anymore, really. There was an era of great British films that we did.” He went on to say that “I hope they bring them back again.”
So, while Hassan is hopeful that perhaps the golden age of British film could return again, it seems that without the right script and funding, The Football Factory 2 will not be a part of that new era.
